The course is aimed at seafarers with specific duties in connection with security matters in accordance with §48 See-BV in conjunction with Regulation VI/6 paragraph 4 and Section A-VI/6 paragraph 6 of the STCW Code as amended.
According to the ISPS Code, this includes all crew members who keep watch or have contact with passengers or harbour workers and fitters or who take on bunkers, spare parts, luggage, stores and provisions or cargo.
The 1-day course with examination is an integral part of the basic security course (according to STCW), but can also be booked as an individual module for persons who either already have a foreign or an old basic security qualification (before 2013) or who do not require basic security training, e.g. ‘Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP)’.
After successfully passing the examination, a certificate of attendance is issued. With this certificate, the actual certificate of competence must be applied for at the BSH for a fee. You can find the relevant application form here.
