The basic safety course is required by the STCW for every crew member on seagoing vessels. In addition to fire defence and the operation of life-saving appliances, it also includes piracy prevention, familiarisation with the UVV-See (accident prevention regulations) and first aid.
In just 10 days, the participant is taught extensive knowledge and numerous practical applications to enable a safe start to everyday life on board. It concludes with an examination and includes the maritime emergency response course.
After successfully passing the examination, a certificate of participation is issued. With this certificate, the actual certificate of proficiency must be applied for at the BSH for a fee. You can find the relevant application formhere.
